What is Fire Breath or Tantric Breathing in Kundalini Yoga?

Breath of fire, or Kundalini yoga fire breath, is a technique of rapid breathing, which gives a direct pump to the navel. It is very similar to Bhastrika and Kapalbhati. It stimulates the pranic fire, which clears Ida and Pingla Nadi, which tends to stimulate Shushumna. It awakens the solar plexus chakra in the body.

- Sit in a peaceful room in a comfortable position, and use a mat on the floor.
- Place your hands on your thigh, in an open position and close your eyes gently.
- Your senses, like your mouth, should be closed.
- You have to start with light breathing, and increase its pace to high levels.
- Pull the navel while exhaling, and at the time of inhaling, give space to air.
- Inhale and rapidly exhale an equal amount of air without any pause.
- Maintain a steady pose in this practice.
